Goals to Live and Dream – Goles para vivir y soñar
This project is the result of a strategic partnership between the Fundación Manuela Vanegas and the Department of Education and Culture of the Municipality of Copacabana.
The overall objective of the project is to sustainably improve the living conditions of young children in rural areas. Sport serves as the central and effective educational tool for promoting social change. The initiative is implemented in rural educational institutions, where structured sports and play activities foster children’s holistic development and create lasting positive impacts on their future lives.
About the Foundation
The Fundación Manuela Vanegas is a non-profit organization dedicated to the holistic development of children, young people, and communities. Sport is used as a key educational instrument to strengthen emotional well-being and promote gender equality.
Inspired by the professional football career of Manuela Vanegas the foundation has developed its own educational methodology that combines sport, emotional learning, and psychosocial support.
Its mission is to strengthen participants’ life skills, support the development of stable life plans, and create new opportunities for the future.
The foundation has extensive expertise in designing and implementing educational programs in rural communities. Through innovative educational approaches and high-impact social projects, it successfully brings together public institutions, local communities, and families.
Project Description
The project promotes emotional development among children aged 3 to 7 years through football. Its objective is to strengthen physical and mental health as well as overall well-being in a safe, supportive, and playful environment.
A total of 295 children from 13 rural schools in the Municipality of Copacabana will directly benefit from the project.
Specific Objectives
* Develop motor skills and physical fitness.
* Teach the fundamental skills of football.
* Strengthen children’s emotional self-regulation.
* Assess physical fitness using the PREFIT (Assessing FITness in PREschoolers) test battery.
Educational Methodology
The project is based on the Competency-Based Learning (ABC) approach, which emphasizes the acquisition of practical skills over purely theoretical knowledge.
Children learn through:
Doing – Feeling – Playing – Reflecting
Project Duration and Implementation
The project will be implemented over a period of four months in the participating educational institutions.
Each participating group will receive four complete learning sessions.
Project reach:

Knowledge Transfer and Long-Term Sustainability
At the conclusion of the project, each participating educational institution will officially receive five educational manuals.
These resources are designed to ensure the long-term sustainability of the project by enabling teachers to independently continue implementing the educational content.
To support long-term ownership of the program by the rural schools, the Fundación Manuela Vanegas will provide ongoing teacher training and professional support. Continued cooperation with the Department of Education and Culture is also planned.
