It was a bastion of the FARC that made peace with the Colombian government in 2016. Despite the peace agreement, there are regular conflicts there and several massacres this year. In addition to projects to reintegrate former FARC fighters into civil life, there are other civil society projects to pacify the region. This includes the “Fundación Social Paz y Esperanza” (Social Foundation for Peace and Hope) with its project “Sports and leisure activities as a medium of building a social structure for territorial peace”. There are difficulties, especially in times of COVID19, with cash funding of financial resources. Because the project is important for promoting playful and sporting activities in leisure time and to encourage children and young people to use their leisure time in a meaningful way, to prevent risk situations such as forced recruitment or to minimize substance use, we will support the project.
