In Algeciras, the rural community in the southern Colombia, the social and armed conflict is still present. For this reason, among other things, we as a foundation support a social project in the field of peace building there.
Now there was another massacre in Algeciras. On May 31st, nine people were murdered on a coffee farm. There is currently no information about the background. Several illegal structures operate in the region.
It is the third massacre in Algeciras in the past two years. The first occurred on July 16, 2020, which killed 4 people and injured two more. The second massacre occurred on September 22, 2020, in which 3 people were also killed.
This clearly shows how important it is to implement the peace agreement and also to protect and invest in rural areas. This also includes support for local institutions and organizations that are dedicated to peace.
